Perplexity Visibility Tracker and the sources behind every answer
A Perplexity visibility tracker records whether Perplexity names your brand in answers to buyer questions, and — because Perplexity shows its working — exactly which pages it used to get there. It is the most source-driven of the major assistants, which makes it the clearest place to see why an answer went the way it did.

Why this engine
It tells you exactly why you lost.
It shows its sources on every answer
Perplexity cites as it writes. That turns a vague question, why are we not recommended, into a concrete list of pages you could actually be on. No other engine makes the causal chain this legible.
The answer follows the sources closely
Because it retrieves and then summarises, the cited pages largely decide the outcome. If the sources it pulls for your category cover competitors, the answer follows them — which is fixable in a way that a model's opinion is not.
It is the fastest engine to check
Perplexity returns in seconds rather than the minute a browsing assistant takes, so it is the sensible engine to start with when you want a first read on a category.
Perplexity's cited sources for one brand: the widest spread of any engine, and only 16% of it the brand's own pages.
What to do about it
Getting cited by Perplexity.
Perplexity is the one engine that hands you the answer to your own question, because it names the pages it used. Treat that list as a to-do rather than a report: every cited URL is either somewhere you could be mentioned, or a page you could have written better than whoever did.
- 1Read the cited sources for the questions that matter, then work out which of them could plausibly mention you and pitch accordingly.
- 2Lead your own pages with the answer. Retrieval favours a clear statement near the top over a conclusion you build to slowly.
- 3Separate being cited from being recommended. Cited-but-not-named means your content is teaching the answer while a rival collects the credit.
- 4Re-check after a source changes. Perplexity follows the pages, so a single updated roundup can move the answer within days.
